In Episode 32 of The Startup Playbook Podcast, I interview Evan Thornley, Co-founder of Looksmart.
Evan has spent most of the last 20 years pioneering the startup scene in Australia. He was the cofounder of Looksmart which was Australia’s first NASDAQ-listed high tech company, which listed with an initial market cap of $1.2B, with a peak market cap of $14B. He was also the CEO of Better Place Australia, an audacious project that sought to provide the charging infrastructure to enable the mass adoption of electric cars around the world. It raised over $900m in venture capital from top-tier investors including GE, HSBC, Israel Corporation and Vantage Point Venture Partners
In the interview Evan shares how to assess risk and identify the right opportunities, the best way to fund your business and the importance of being authentic.
