Ep061 – Samantha Stein and Anthony Ha (TechCrunch) on pitching & PR

My guests for episode 61 of The Startup Playbook Podcast are Samantha Stein and Anthony Ha from TechCrunch.

In case you missed the announcement, TechCrunch’s Startup Battlefield is coming down under! As you may be aware, TechCrunch is one of the world’s leading technology media companies and they also host Startup Battlefield which brings the world’s top early stage startups together on one stage to compete for the coveted Disrupt Cup, a $50,000 prize, and the attention of media and investors.

On November 16, TechCrunch will hold it’s first Startup Battlefield in Sydney at the Australian Technology Park and will see 15 early stage start-ups compete for a $25,000 non-equity funding prize and an all-expenses paid trip to compete at TechCrunch’s flagship San Francisco Battlefield event in 2018.

My guests for today’s episode are two members of the Techcrunch team in the Director of Special Projects and Battlefield Director, Samantha Stein and Senior Writer at TechCrunch, Anthony Ha

In this episode we talk about: what journalists at techCrunch look for in featured stories, the importance of having the right team, the key ingredients of a good pitch and the importance of understanding your audience.
